Maria Malasangre
Actual location: Morocco
Dj since: 2018

I'm gonna show you how guaracha and dabka are the perfect match.
My set is a wild mix of perreo, belly dance, passinhos, conga, with a dash of Moroccan QRQB and zaghrouta samples.
Got it? It’s like if a camel and a blue macaw became best friends and decided to spend Carnaval in Brasil.
I blend my Latin America roots with some MENA influences making you dance by pushing the boundaries from the southern world. And if by the end of the set you're thinking "what the f*ck was that?" my mission was accomplished!
Musical Research:
Latin diaspora, decolonial beats.
baile funk, guaracha, afro & latin house, arab electro, brazilian beats.
120-140 bpm

(EN) What’s my jam? Picture a blend of perreo and belly dance, spiced up with some conga and qrqb beats!
Hailing from the Brazilian countryside, I like to call myself a global thinker and traveler—a researcher of the Latin American diaspora and a cultural dynamo.
My journey took me across Latin America, where I dove headfirst into the world of Latin rhythms. This adventure sparked my passion for becoming a DJ, aiming to celebrate Brazilian Latinidad through music. In 2020, I took my first steps into music production, collaborating with talented musicians from Mexico, Guatemala, Panama, Colombia, and Morocco for my debut EP.
Right now, I'm crafting my album, which weaves together Latin American and North African influences. It's all about fostering a decolonized, two-way connection between Brazil and Morocco, Latam and Mena.
In Morocco, where I currently live, I founded Soundsisters, the women DJ collective and booking/management agency. I roam the country, hosting workshops and events, all dedicated to supporting and empowering women in the electronic music scene.
